Yowie 53F all-flash appliances are built for all use cases when every microsecond counts and the need for speed is a business imperative.
Both approaches are proven data protection mechanisms by creating multiple copies or fragments of your data that are stored across different locations, i.e. different nodes and disks. The biggest difference between RF3 and 3+2 erasure coding (EC) is disk effiency with EC being the clear winner. In our example, RF3 is 33% and EC 3+2 is 66% efficient. However, it would be wrong to say that EC is always the best choice as you should also take performance into consideration. Especially for lots of very small objects, RF3 can be the better option. Either way, with Cloudian Hyperstore you can implement both data protection policies on any Yowie Multi Node Appliance and on a per-bucket basis. This is how you can always apply the optimal protection scheme for any specific business case and data type.
Yes, of course and it’s always on by default. S3 Object Lock is a very important security feature that you need to protect your data against encryption through ransomware or tampering. Even root admins cannot change or delete locked objects within the retention period you have defined. S3 Object Lock is already included in the purchase price and automatically activated by the Yowie Installation Wizard.
