Both models are available with a licence period of either 3 or 5 years including software support.
The 1200 series is also a single node appliance with 6 hard drives in 2U and available with either 8TB or 16TB of usable capacity. Thanks to the 6 hard disks, a RAID 6 configuration provides a certain level of security. Nevertheless, we recommend regular synchronization with an external storage. The Yowie 1100-series comprise of affordable and immutable edge and/or on premise devices. Being small, light and quite silent they can either sit at a data source or protect valuable data created in branch offices, production sites, a second building, or remote working locations, just to name a few. In a nutshell the Yowie 1100-series is ideal for all business scenarios that need the data protection provided by Object Lock in a hub and spoke architecture. We strongly advise to always sync a Yowie 1100-series with external storage in your own datacentre or any cloud.
The Yowie 1200-series makes valuable data immutable and is a great choice for all businesses who are looking for a modern storage solution with all the benefits of object storage and a 100% native S3 API. Although the 6 hard disks allow a RAID 6 configuration for a higher security level we strongly recommend regular synchronisation with an external data storage target.

No, not at all! All Yowie Single Node Appliances come as a complete turnkey solution with the full Cloudian Hyperstore software suite. Your business deserves all the features and functionalities this Cloudian Hyperstore provides and we’re not making any compromises at all.
The honest answer is, it depends. However, the unique Yowie Installation Wizard completes the installation on a single node appliance in less than 20 minutes. Guaranteed.
Also known as disk mirroring, RAID1 replicates data across at least 2 drives in real-time. The system will still be running if one disk fails.
RAID 6 provides redundancy and fault tolerance using a dual parity method. With a RAID 6 configuration 2 drives can fail in parallel and no data will be lost. There’s a reasonable price for the enhanced protection and integrity of your data though: two out of the six drives of the Yowie 1200-series are parity drives and cannot be considered useable capacities.
It’s quite a common term used for a data storage architectures comprising of one or many Yowie Single Node Appliances (the ‘spokes’) that are all connected to a central storage system (the ‘hub’). This is a cost effective solution but the hub must never be a single point of failure. Yet, the spokes can all be in different locations and replicate the data to the hub in regular intervals.
